Day Nr10: San Francisco > Monterey
Today we left rainy San Francisco via direction Golden Gate Bridge and than turning on Highway 1 South.
After a depressive first part, driving in fog and rain we came to a lighthouse tower jsut a view miles before Santa Cruz. There was just a small strip of blue sky, which gave us the hope that the weather wil lturn better. At the light house break we met an american which told us at this point they just have about 10 sunny days a year, but in a view miles in Santa Cruz it should get better.
Arrived in Santa Cruz the clouds were gone completly – blue sky and about 23°C. We made a break of about 1,5 hrs and visited the beach and the boardwalk there. Chris and me did a ride on a roller coaster which was firstly opened in June 1924! while Marjan enjoyed the sunshine.
After this break we headed further south to Monterey where we had a latelunch at the harbour side. After this we visited togetehr th Monterey Bay Aquarium.
At about 5:30 pm we left Monterey to the direction of Salinas (North-East) where we stay overnight in a Motel 6. Close to the motel we tried to have dinner at a mexican restaurant, but this was completly full, so we left to a diner close by – the portions were more or less XXXL
Tomorrow we will have the longest drive, from Salinas via Monterey South on Hwy1 to Santa Barbara and further on to Camarillo (about 1hr more after Santa Barbara).
